Get fit and have fun this spring

Take part in our virtual challenge of cycling the length of the UK from Land's End to John O’Groats.

What are the details?

Every year thousands of like-minded cyclists complete the iconic bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats. This year want you to take part virtually for SOHK.

You can either take your time and cycle the entire distance yourself or you can form a team of up to 10 people and divide the distance up as you choose. There’s everything to ride for as there will be a prize for the fastest team so pick your teammates and allocate their distances wisely! There are two cycling distances to choose from: As The Crow Flies (603 miles - recommended for individuals and smaller teams) or The Road Race (1200 miles - recommended for larger teams).

We ask that teams raise at least a pound per mile. So that’s £600 for As The Crow Flies and £1200 for The Road Race - if you feel you can aim higher, then absolutely go for it! If you are participating as an individual, you will be able to set your own fundraising target.

Teams should complete the challenge between midnight on the 25th March and midnight on the 29th of March whilst individuals should complete the challenge between midnight on the 25th March and midnight on the 30th April.

Why take part?

Change Lives

School of Hard Knocks exists to empower and support individuals facing social inequality and enables meaningful change in participants’ lives. We want to create a society in which everyone is given the opportunity to realise and fulfil their potential, regardless of where they come from or what they have been through. It is through our supporters taking up these types of challenge events that we are able to continue to run life-changing courses programmes for both adults and children.

Get Fitter

Committing yourself to a challenge like LEJOG will give you a brilliant incentive to stay active past January when we all have that dip! Having a training schedule in place and a goal to work towards will help you stay on track - plus you’ll be getting tips, goodies and support from SOHK to keep you motivated.

Stay Connected

Fundraising is a fantastic and feel-good way to stay connected with others during a period where it’s increasingly difficult to do so. Whether you set up a virtual games tournament or live-stream yourself doing taking a dip into a baked bean bath (yes, someone has done this for us before!), fundraising allows you to keep in touch with loved ones much more easily.
